A random business card.
On the way from Seattle to Chicago on UA 754, I got the privilege of sitting in First Class.
As we were making our descent into O’Hare, one of the flight attendants handed me a business card:
Apparently, I’m not the only one that thinks that this is pretty cool.
Buy my house?!?
It’s been a nice place to live for the past 5 years. Our favorite parts of the house are the open floor plan downstairs, the flooring, and the tasteful landscaping outside.
A few pictures:
Outside view in the Morning
Living room, the view from just inside the front door.
Dead bunnies tell no tales
Spring Break!!!!
Spring Break at Sirenis Cocotal Resort, Playa Uvero Alto, Dominican Republic.
The view from our hotel room; hooray for oceanview hotel rooms with a balcony!
Also, hooray for palm-tree hats.
A windy, cloudy dusk on the beach.
And finally, hooray for men playing with fire. That’s fire on the end of a string being twirled around to create the circle. And it’s a mouthful of alcohol being spit at the fire, to create the puff.
Golden Gate Bridge
A typical (cloudy) day in the bay area!
Time to Go
Alas, it’s time to go.
Green Sand (no turtles)
Since the lava flows were outside the park, we camped at a State Park that was close by.
Oh, and I forgot my tent poles, which meant I slept outside (but under a little pavilion). I must have looked really pathetic when I woke up in the morning.
On the plus side, we saw a breaching humpback from the rocks of the beach. It swam and breached continuously for over 30 minutes.
We also went to a green sand beach at the southernmost point in the US (look it up).
Black Sand and Turtles
We just happened to show up at the Black Sand Beach, when the University of Hawaii - Manoa was doing a turtle project. Mostly, they were weighing them. Just like me, that research was funded by NMFS (your taxpayer dollars at work).
Moonlight at Hawaii Volcanos
I tried to take a few photos of the lava flows at sunset. Nothing was particularly good, I think I’d really benefit from a tripod.
The Google Maps satellite image of the area looks pretty darn cool.
My favorite thing about Las Vegas…
Is the sheer ridiculousness of it all. Water fountains in the desert?
A giant Castle, a fake Eiffel Tower, an imitation Pyramid? None of it makes sense.
It’s absurd, and yet enjoyable. I really wonder what fraction of the Deadliest Catch ends in the gullets of binging gamblers.
If they were going for realism, the water would be brown, a little scummy, and a little stinky. But chlorinated works for me.
